3 killed, properties destroyed as hoodlums attack Lugbe Peace Village Community in Abuja

Dozens of miscreants, on Thursday, attacked Peace Village community in Lugbe, Federal Capital Territory, resulting in the killing of three people and many properties destroyed.

Residents who spoke to Television Nigerian said what started as minor robbery attack quickly escalated into a full blown attack on the community.

The incident, it was gathered, happened when some youth, in a foiled robbery attack, were apprehended by the residents, beaten and later released.

The youths whose occupation involves waste disposal and scraps around the community quickly went to their dump yard camps to mobilize their colleagues who arrived in dozens and began unleashing mayhem on residents.

Confirming the incident to our correspondent who was also at the scene, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer Anjuguri Manzah said the Command is already aware of the situation and investigation on going.

Meanwhile scores of police personnel have been deployed to the affected community. A visit by our correspondent noticed a palpable calm as residents are now going about their normal business while some youth maintain vigilance.
