When it comes to the absence of a few key players for the Super Eagles’ 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe, head coach Jose Peseiro has stated that he is not concerned.

Concerns about their fitness kept Zaidu Sanusi, Samuel Chukwueze, and the talisman forward Victor Osimhen out of the qualifying squad.

During last month’s friendly between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia, Osimhen and Chukwueze suffered hamstring injuries.

After missing about six weeks of action, Sanusi recently made a comeback to the field for FC Porto, a Portuguese team.

Peseiro claimed he has enough talent available to fill in for the trio when they are away.

“I am only talking about Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze, Zaidu, and others because you asked, but none of them are fit. According to Peseiro, at a press conference in Uyo, “It’s better I think about the 23 players, come with more confidence; I don’t care about the others, only I said recover well, for that I call them.”

“I call all of them frequently, not just Osimhen. I tell them that while they do a good job working, when we go camping, this team will be our team and no other team will be allowed.

At the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Thursday, the Super Eagles will host the Likuena of Lesotho.
