Rt. Rev. Isaac Oluyamo, the bishop of the Ijesa North Anglican Diocese, has urged President Bola Tinubu to prioritize policies that will improve the lives of the impoverished.
Oluyamo encouraged the president to put the needs of the impoverished first and endeavor to bring them out of poverty and adversity in his New Year’s speech to Nigerians.
Stressing that the fundamental purpose of government is to have a beneficial impact on the most vulnerable members of society, he asked the president to keep the poor and the vulnerable in mind when formulating his policies and programs.
“In 2025, the president must give the needs and wellbeing of the impoverished first priority. He needs to pick policies wisely and concentrate on those that will have the most effects on society’s underprivileged.
If the poor continue to get poorer, what good is governance? “The poor must be directly impacted by the government and given a better life,” he said.

In order to combat hunger in the coming year, Oluyamo urged Nigerians to investigate agricultural alternatives. He praised the work being done to promote agriculture by Hon. Babatola Faseru, the Commissioner for Agriculture in Osun State. “The Commissioner has shown that he is a round peg in a round hole in his brief tenure in office by taking numerous actions to enhance the sector.”
Additionally, the Bishop congratulated His Royal Majesty, Oba Adesuyi Haastrupp, the new Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, on his accession to the throne and gave him the diocese’s prayers and support.
Oluyamo called for Nigerians to “work towards peace in all aspects” of their lives and be “agents of reconciliation, forgiveness, and love,” while highlighting the significance of peace in all facets of life.
