2023: Reject monetary inducement – NYSC urges corps members

Members of the National Youth Service Corps, or NYSC, who will be on election duty have been advised to complete their assignments carefully.

The warning was given by Mrs. Blessing Iruma, the NYSC coordinator for Anambra, during a one-day pre-election sensitization program for the program’s staff and corps members on Wednesday in Amawbia, Awka South LGA.

Iruma advised them to carry out their duties in accordance with the Electoral Act’s regulations and in accordance with the general election training they received. He also advised them to take care not to obstruct a free, fair, and credible election.

Give the country a free, fair, and credible election by avoiding partisan politics.

“There are dangers in taking bribes from politicians; tread with caution and work conscientiously.

“Do not fall for their Greek gifts, be discerning because all that glitters is not gold, and stay away from partisan politics,” she said.

Additionally, Mrs. Uche Enemchukwu, a representative of the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters, stated that the election was taking place at a crucial time in the history of the country.

Corps members were admonished by Enemchukwu to carry out their responsibilities with the utmost sense of responsibility.

She said, “Nigerians have a great deal of faith in the NYSC Corps members, so you must refrain from anything that would betray the faith.

“You are recent graduates serving as corps members; as such, you ought to be impartial, devoted, patriotic, and responsible.

“The reason they trusted you is because they know they can always find you whenever they look for you; you can’t hide and you can be tracked.”
