Chris Ngige, the Minister of Labour and Employment, announced on Thursday that he is “seriously considering” a presidential run in 2023.

During an appearance on Politics Today, he made the remark.

“Last December, I told my constituents that I would conduct some consultations and that I would speak to them in April, during Easter.” When asked if he would run for President, he said, “I’m doing my consultations.”

Although he has yet to inform President Muhammadu Buhari, the Minister added that he was “qualified” to be President.

He claims that some Nigerians have asked him to run, including a former Inspector-General of Police.

Mr Ngige said he wasn’t running based on regional sentiments, despite speculation of a South-East presidency.

He stated, “If I’m going to run, I’m not going to run because I’m Igbo.” “I will run as Chris Nwabueze Ngige, a Nigerian citizen from Anambra State, and from the Idemilli South local government and the town of Alor in Anambra State.

“I’m not going to wear an Igbo President’s toga.” I’m of Igbo descent, but I’m well qualified to be Nigeria’s President.”
