The people of Gboko spoke their minds on Wednesday, March 2nd, 2022, when they paid Governor Ortom a ‘thank you’ visit at the Benue Peoples House Makurdi.

Chief Mike Mku, who spoke for the local government’s political class, offered to personally lead the Governor’s campaign team if he declares his intention to run for office.

“Governor Ortom has done for the people of Gboko what no Governor has ever done,” Chief Mku says, citing numerous appointments, road projects, and the construction of a world-class Tor Tiv Palace as examples.

Professor Anthony Ijohor, SAN, Secretary to the State Government, said that when a Jemgbagh son finished his term as Governor in 2007, he “was elected to the Senate and the person he brought was also supported to succeed him as Governor.”

According to him, because of Governor Ortom’s widespread support and the precedent he has established, the people of Gboko and Jemgbagh will not only vote for him in the Senate, but will also line up behind the person he nominates to become Governor in 2023.

The people of Gboko came to express their gratitude to the Governor for the many good things he has done for them, according to Ter Gboko, Chief Gabriel Shosum, who led traditional rulers as part of the delegation.

He explained that the Governor’s good works in Gboko extend to all 17 council wards, emphasizing that another key feature of his administration is the prohibition of thuggery, which has resulted in peace in the state.

Queen Menenge, speaking on behalf of women, expressed gratitude for the Governor’s many good deeds for their husbands, children, and themselves, emphasizing that they only looked up to the First Lady, Dr Mrs Eunice Ortom, who has continued to guide them.

Governor Ortom responded by expressing his delight at the visit, noting that he has not received a delegation as powerful as the one from Gboko since the COVID-19 era.

The Governor, who described Gboko as his first home, expressed his gratitude to the people for their kind words, emphasizing that they support him as a family, not as a politician.
