Sam Ohuabunwa, a presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, warned on Saturday that any attempt by those powers that be to deny the Ndigbo presidency would fail.
Ohuabunwa announced this in Abakaliki, adding that he has worked more than any other candidate to be qualified to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.
“The scheme is certain to fail. Injustice will not be tolerated by God. I am optimistic that sensible advice will triumph, since the majority of God-fearing Nigerians favor justice. They favor a move to the East, and it will happen by God’s grace.”
Why zoning choice may do PDP more damage than gain in 2023
Insinuations that Igbo presidential hopefuls were dropping out of the race were baseless, he said, adding that he would be elected President of the country in 2923.
“It is not true that Igbo Presidential hopefuls have lost their stem and are no longer consulting or campaigning,” he stated. I was in the Southeast the day before yesterday. I was in Delta on Thursday, where I met with the PDP caucus. I’ll be flying to Oyo on Monday and then to Kwara from there. We’re on the go.
“It’s simply that we don’t have the resources that Tinubu does—he has so much money that if he coughs, it’s all over the news.” We, on the other hand, are doing much more than he is. Because we are not yet in the general elections, we are moving towards the delegates. We’re concentrating on PDP delegates right now; we’re not entertaining the general public.
“As a result, we plan our actions carefully. It is not true that Igbo presidential candidates are doing little to pursue their goals. I’m moving and planning if anybody else isn’t. I have to tell you that in the past two or three weeks, I have put in a lot of effort to guarantee that I get the PDP Presidential nomination.
“As a result, I’m taking things seriously.” Of course, I can’t speak for anybody else; I can only speak for myself, and I’m doing a lot. The PDP NEC and members of the Board of Trustees met in Abuja two weeks ago. I was there and had the opportunity to meet everyone. When I saw Chief Onyema Ugochukwu in Umuahia yesterday, he was telling people about how I shook hands with all of the PDP NEC members and that I’m the most dogged and resilient Presidential candidate in Nigeria right now.
“I have proof.” For the first time, I visited 26 states throughout the nation, the most recent of which was Abia, my home state, to which I return often. And throughout any of these travels, I continue to consult and speak with PDP members and others.
“I was with Chief Onyema Ugochukwu, the Chairman of my party, the PDP, in Abia State yesterday. I’m putting in a lot of effort to win. For some reason, you may not be able to see or read me. What matters is that I don’t lose stem.
“I’m doing this because in 2023, I’m going to be President of Nigeria.” It’s not a question of “Shall it be?” It will be, with the grace of God. That is why I am participating in PDP. I’m not going to join any of the minor political parties that are popping up all over the place. PDP is a major company, and that’s where I compete.”
“Tinubu is known to have so much money that he must spend,” he said. Atiku is well-known for having a large sum of money that he must spend. We aren’t recognized for having a lot of cash, but we’re working on a more strategic approach behind the scenes and appealing to others to join us.
“You may be well-known in the media, but it’s pointless if you don’t maintain contact with the public.
“I’ve been to Obasanjo. I’ve visited IBB. I’ve gone to a lot of them. As a result, I’m putting in a lot of effort. I’ve got proof. No one in either the APC or the PDP is undertaking the strategic work I am doing to win. None.
“I went to visit a PDP leader in Adamawa for the second time, and that was the second time we’d meet.” “You are the only candidate who shocks us with your goal and vision for Nigeria,” he remarked. Others arrive with cash; do they believe that cash will suffice? You, on the other hand, arrive with your purpose, vision, and papers.
“That’s what the Adamawa guy said, and I’m going to repeat him.” As a result, I’m putting in a lot of effort. And I want to reassure you that, with God’s grace, I will be President of Nigeria in 2023.
